Services

The centre offers a wide range of specialist medical services, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, cystoscopy, minor procedures, and medical referral services. We are staffed by several full-time specialists in General Surgery and Gastroenterology & Hepatology, each with over ten years of experience. All endoscopic examinations and minor procedures are assisted by senior registered nurses, with comprehensive and proper post-operative follow-up care provided.

Oesophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD) is an examination of the inside of the upper digestive tract by using a flexible video-endoscope which is passed through the mouth into the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. It allows doctor to have direct vision of the upper digestive tract and to detect pathological change, for example, tumor, ulceration or polyps etc. Your doctor will take biopsy for pathological examination and may perform polypectomy and therapeutic haemostasis when necessary.

Colonoscopy is a procedure that enables doctor to view the inside of the large bowel. This is accomplished by passing a flexible video-endoscope through the anus into the rectum, then advancing slowly through sigmond colon, descending colon, transverse colon, ascending colon and lastly to the caecum. The examiner can have direct vision of the colon or pathological changes inside the colon, such as tumor, ulceration or polyps. Doctor may take biopsy for pathological examination, perform polypectomy and therapeutic haemostasis when necessary.

Cystoscopy can be used to evaluate lesions occurring in the bladder, male prostate, and urethra. Clinically, cystoscopy can be used for urethral dilation, removal of bladder blood clots, biopsy of lesions in the bladder or urethra, and assisting in the insertion or removal of ureteral stents.

Colorectal cancer is the most common cancer in Hong Kong and ranks second among fatal cancers*. The government provides a screening programme for asymptomatic Hong Kong residents aged 50 to 75, aimed at early identification of high-risk cases. Participants must first be assessed by a primary care doctor regarding their physical condition and medical history. If suitable, the medical centre will handle the participation procedures on their behalf.
